Triumph Street Triple Highlights

Triumph India has launched the 2020 Street Triple R in India at Rs 8.84 lakh (ex-showroom, pan-India). This makes it Rs 2.49 lakh less expensive than the Street Triple RS. This is the first time that the Street Triple R is going on sale in our two-wheeler market. While it adopts the same design language as the Street Triple RS, the R variant featured a retuned BS6-compliant engine, a lower-spec monoshock, and a handful of rider aids. The 765cc inline three-cylinder BS6-compliant engine is similar to the RS, but the Street Triple R’s motor pumps out 118PS and 79Nm; the RS is rated at 123PS and 79Nm. The engine is reined in by three-level riding modes and traction control. You also get a standard bi-directional quickshifter with assist and slipper clutch. The bike employs a Showa inverted front fork and a Showa rear monoshock, both fully adjustable (compression, rebound and preload adjustments). Brakes include 320mm dual front discs with Brembo M4.32 radial calipers and a rear 220mm disc with Brembo caliper. Tipping the scales at 168kg dry, the bike is 2kg heavier than the Street Triple RS.The Triumph Street Triple R rivals the BMW F 900 R, which is the only BS6-compliant rival at the moment. Other upcoming alternatives include Kawasaki Z900, and the KTM 790 Duke.
