Benelli 502 C Highlights

The Benelli 502C has been launched in India at Rs 4.98 lakh (ex-showroom India). You can read all about the motorcycle in our launch report here. Its pre-bookings commenced earlier this month for a token of Rs 10,000. The Benelli 502C is the company’s third motorcycle based on the 500cc parallel-twin engine platform and is Benelli’s first modern cruiser in India.

The urban cruiser looks like a scaled-down Ducati Diavel 1260 with its hunkered-down stance and raked-out front end. It has got a large 21-litre fuel tank, which should be more than enough for endless mile-munching. Even though it’s on the heavier side at 216kg kerb, the low 750mm seat should help maneuvering a tad easier.

The 500cc parallel-twin engine, mated to a 6-speed gearbox, produces 47.6PS and 46Nm. This engine is housed inside a tubular steel trellis frame and suspended by a USD fork and a preload-adjustable monoshock. Braking setup comprises twin 280mm rotors on the front wheel with a four-piston radial caliper acting on each disc. The rear 240mm disc gets a conventional two-piston caliper. Dual-channel ABS comes as standard.

The Benelli 502C competes with the upcoming Honda Rebel 500, which is likely to be launched in the coming months. Another alternative currently on sale is the Kawasaki Vulcan S, which is a 650cc cruiser.
