Triumph Trident 660 Highlights

The Triumph Trident 660 has witnessed its first price hike since its launch. The motorcycle is now priced at Rs 7,45,000 (ex-showroom, India), which is Rs 50,000 more than its introductory launch price.

Triumph India launched the Trident 660, its most affordable bike in the country, at Rs 6,95,000 (introductory, ex-showroom India) back in April 2021. The Trident 660 is Triumph’s attempt at capturing the lucrative middleweight naked segment, currently dominated by the likes of the Kawasaki Z650, Honda CB650R, Aprilia Tuono 660, as well as the upcoming Suzuki SV650.

Triumph Trident 660 Price in India:

The Triumph Trident 660 is priced at Rs 7,45,000, making it the most affordable Triumph motorcycle in the country. In comparison, the next most affordable bike from Triumph, the 2022 Triumph Street Twin costs Rs 8.25 lakh (both ex-showroom India).

Triumph Trident 660 Features:

Despite being Triumph’s entry-level triple, the Trident 660 is loaded to the gills with features such as an all-LED lighting system and a colour TFT instrument cluster with optional smartphone connectivity, which will enable functions including turn-by-turn navigation, phone call/music control, and GoPro control. Besides, the motorcycle gets two riding modes: Road and Rain, along with a switchable traction control system and dual-channel ABS.

Triumph Trident 660 Engine:

On the mechanical front, the Triumph Trident 660 is powered by a new Euro 5/ BS6-compliant 660cc liquid-cooled inline three-cylinder engine. It generates 81PS at 10,250rpm and 64Nm at 6,250rpm. The engine works alongside a 6-speed transmission with an assist-and-slipper clutch. In Europe, Triumph also offers a kit that will limit the output figures to 47PS and 59Nm so that the bike complies with A2 licensing norms in the continent. For the Indian market, Triumph offers a bi-directional quickshifter for an extra Rs 29,000. This should ensure rapid gear shifts.

Triumph Trident 660 Suspension & Brakes:

Underpinnings include a new steel perimeter frame linked to a 41mm inverted separate function front fork and a linked preload-adjustable rear mono-shock, both from Showa with preload adjustability. Braking is via twin 310mm front discs with sliding calipers and a 255mm disc with a single-piston caliper. The 17-inch cast aluminium wheels are shod with Michelin Road 5 tyres on both ends.

Triumph Trident 660 Rivals:

The Triumph Trident 660 will be a more feature-packed, more performance-focussed alternative to the Kawasaki Z650. It will also go up against the recently launched Honda CB650R, which is a lot more expensive than the British Triple. Other upcoming rivals include the Aprilia Tuono 660 and the Suzuki SV650.
